To study in Canada, you need to apply under Canada’s SPP rules. SPP stands for Student Partners Programs and it is an administrative framework or set of rules between CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) and ACCC (Association of Canadian Community Colleges). The SPP was launched in April 2009 and was meant to streamline the admission and visa process for Canadian Community Colleges, to increase the number of visas being issued to students from India and China. All the students that are planning to study in Canada need to apply under the SPP and need to choose colleges that are registered with the SPP. Their applications receive prompt processing and a fair decision based on the documents provided by the student. Following is the eligibility criteria for applying under SPP:
An overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no bands less than 5.5. The test score must not be older than two years.
Not more than 8 backlogs are accepted under SPP.
The course applied must be relevant to the previous study of the candidate.
Minimum 50% score in their recently completed degree or diploma or Higher as per the SPP institution specific requirement.

Work permit is allowed to every international student who have graduated with a recognized qualification from any affiliated institution in Canada, whether it is an SPP college or non SPP college. However, the work permit scheme has its own defined requirements that every student must fulfill in order to work in Canada. According to the current work permit rules in Canada, students who have graduated from a course which is equal to or more than two years of length are eligible for a Post Study Work Permit of up to 3 years while students who have completed a course or one year or less are eligible for a work permit that is equal to the length of their course.
